Cookie Dough Nestlé Recall

Is it really that much of a mystery?  Cookie dough has raw eggs.  Eating raw eggs can lead to salmonella, a food-borne illness.  Although the bacterium E. coli 0157 lives in the intestines of cattle, it is not unlikely that cow manure would become contaminated with chicken eggs if there are many animals that reside on the same processing facility.  Add to the equation that people eat raw cookie dough (despite warning labels) and you have yourself a nice recall…  39% of consumers who eat raw cookie dough disregard the warning label, according to Consumer Reports!

Nestlé will probably take a blow being that they hold a 41 percent share of the prepared cookie dough market.  Boo hoo hoo.
