Short bursts of exercise may protect cells from harmful stress

Bursts of vigorous exercise, as little as 14 minutes a day for three days a week, could buffer the impact of stress on cell aging, researchers said. Their study found exercise protects tiny DNA pieces called telomeres that, over time, tend to shorten in response to stress, increasing the risk of heart disease, diabetes and death.
